Winners have been announced in Australia’s largest open-entry, photomedia exhibition and competition, Kodak Salon 2012.
More than 20 photographers were recognised in this year's awards, with Sydney-based commercial photographer Julian Wolkenstein taking the top award, the Kodak Professional Excellence in Photomedia prize, valued at $3000.
The annual competition and exhibition celebrates the latest developments in photo-based art practice and includes analogue and digital photography, DVD/film/video and 3D works. This year over $20,000 worth of prizes was awarded across 20 prize categories.
Other winners are: Danny Cohen (Adobe Best Use of Digital Media), Adam Stone (Borge's Imaging Excellence in Colour), Kristen Lyttle (Patrick Corrigan AM Aquisitive Award), Astrid Piepschyk (Manfrotto Best Portrait), Charlotte Reynolds (Kata Best Travel Image), Dianna Wells (Gitzo Best Landscape Image), James Murphy (Kayell Best Inkjet Print), Linda Wachtel (JCP Studios and Fini Frames Best Architectural Image), Aaron Claringbold (AIPP Best Use of Light), Sam Dow (Bond Colour Best Work on an Environmental Theme), Aaron Christopher Rees (Woodworks Framing Best Composition), Nina Ross (Lexar Best Moving Image), Julie Davies (Centre for Contemporary Photography Staff Favourite), Jo Scicluna (Rae and Bennett Excellence in Conceptual Photography), Rachelle Davey (Photographic Imaging College Best Documentary Photograph), Leah Holscher (Australian Centre for Photography Best Street Photography), Leoni Branninghan (TFIA Best Fashion Image), Vivian Cooper Smith (Lomo Best Night-time Image), Greg Neville (Best Use of a Found Photograph), and Ryan Fernandes (Lomo Best Animal Image).
An exhibition of the winning images is now on at the Centre for Contemporary Photography in Melbourne (404 George Street, Fitzroy) and will run until December 15, 2012.
