Man finds 70 year old camera in thrift store: promptly develops the film
Just when we thought cool finds couldn’t be outdone, photographer Martijn van Oers has found something remarkable.
On a casual outing to a Netherlands thrift store Oers managed to find a fully functional original Zeiss Ikon 520/2 folding camera.
Produced in Germany between 1929 and 1937, the pre WWII medium format camera was estimated by Oers to have been used between the 40s and 70s.
Oers was even more surprised when he opened up the Zeiss to find a roll of undeveloped film.
Taking the roll to his printing aficionado mate Johan Holleman, Oers carefully developed the images, with four of them appearing to depict a man’s holiday in Biarritz, France.
“Looking at the images, I feel I stumbled across a small treasure-chest or time capsule giving us a tiny glimpse into the past,” he said.
