Adobe updates Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements
Adobe has made a number of updates to its Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements 2025 editing programmes.
In an era of subscription software, Adobe's Elements are decidedly old school in a sense - they're both non-subscription based products available for a flat fee, although it's only possible to buy a three-year licence to use them. When that licence is up, the software will lock and you'll need to repurchase.
At the same time, the tools are 'fixed in time' and not part of the same constant upgrade cycle of their flagship counterparts Photoshop and Premiere Pro.
But, the advantage is they're considerably more affordable - the Photoshop and Premiere Elements package is $219.95 for a three-year licence, and the Photoshop package alone is just $145.19. By comparison, Photoshop and Premiere Pro are $54.99 a month, each.
And despite not receiving as regular updates as Adobe's flagship products, the Elements products are still feature-rich. In 2022 they received the first of a series of AI enhancements, and that's continued this year, well for Photoshop anyway.
You can see a list of the new features below.
Photoshop Elements 2025

Brush to remove objects - make anything disappear in seconds with the new AI-powered Remove tool and the Object Removal Guided Edit.

Add realistic depth of field with precise control - Choose your focal point and the new AI-powered Depth Blur filter automatically adds blur just where it’s needed. Then adjust details like blur strength, focal distance, and focal range for the perfect look.
Change the colour of any object - Use automatic selection tools to choose what you want to change, and pick new colours.

Combine multiple pics - Blend the subject from one, the background from another, and elements from more to create a never-before-seen image with the new Combine Photos Guided Edit.
Create motion effects with four new Quick Actions - With just one click, create a sense of camera motion or add animated sparkles, a blinking heart, or an animated frame.
Modern textures and graphics - New textured photo backgrounds to embellish creations, social images, and more.
Guided Edits - 59 step-by-step Guided Edits have been added to level-up skills.
And finally, there's now Apple M3 chip support, promising faster performance on Mac computers.
Adobe Premiere Elements 2025
Create dynamic titles with more text controls - Choose from new templates, and style your text to match your story with new controls for alignment, size, direction, color, spacing, and more.

Improvements to colours - A new white balance tool to ensure that clouds, snow, and other white details look truly white, and further colour correction with a Curves tool.
Adjust footage color with LUTs - Create a new mood or aesthetic by automatically transforming your color scheme with presets, or import and apply your own.

A simplified Timeline - See video tracks grouped together, and audio tracks grouped together for easier navigation, and find the editing options you use most in the new Quick Tools menu. In addition, it's now possible to lock individual tracks to prevent accidental changes.
Free Adobe Stock title templates - Free, professionally designed templates with Adobe Stock integration right inside Premiere Elements.
Guided Edits - As with Photoshop Elements, users can choose from one of many Guided Edits for their videos, and then follow along to make quick fixes or add creative effects, smooth transitions, or eye-catching animations.
Apple M3 chip support - Also as per Photoshop Elements, there's full support for the new Apple M3 systems.
In addition, there's also improvements to the web and mobile companion apps (beta).
You can now add overlays that move or frame your subject to create depth, perform one-click photo fixes and auto-sync photos and videos.
