Canon announce PowerShot G7X Mark III and G5X Mark II
Canon has announced two new large sensor compact cameras, the PowerShot G7X Mark III and G5X Mark II.
The PowerShot G5 X Mark II features a new 5x f/1.8-2.8 lens and pop-up EVF, while the PowerShot G7 X Mark III features a 4.2x f/1.8 – 2.8 zoom lens and 3.5mm microphone input.
Both cameras feature Canon’s DIGIC 8 image processor, 20.1 megapixel 1.0-yype stacked sensors and weigh just 340 and 304 grams, respectively.
The PowerShot G5 X Mark II features a 5x zoom lens and relatively fast f/1.8-2.8 aperture. Comparatively, the PowerShot G7 X Mark III has a 4.2x f/1.8-2.8 zoom lens.
Both the PowerShot G5 X Mark II and PowerShot G7 X Mark III offer DSLR-like levels of control, with a control ring providing direct access to settings. The PowerShot G5 X Mark II’s features a corner mounted pop-up OLED Electronic View Finder (EVF) and tilting touchscreen.
The PowerShot G5 X Mark II and the PowerShot G7 X Mark III both feature an AF-MP feature allowing for manual adjustments to focus, and built in ND filters. Both cameras shoot at speeds of 20fps in continuous mode, and 30fps in RAW burst mode.
For video recording, both cameras can capture 4K/30p, 1080/60p (and 120p), HDR, and high frame rate movie with no crop. Finally there's Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and a live streaming function on the PowerShot G7 X Mark III.
No local pricing has been announced, but the cameras are expected to retail for $750 USD/$1,092 AUD) (G7 X Mark III) and $900 USD/$1,299 AUD (G5 X Mark II).
