DJI releases OM 5 smartphone stabiliser
Global drone and creative camera company DJI has released the DJI OM 5, the latest addition to its Osmo Mobile series.
Designed to be smaller and lighter than its predecessor the Osmo Mobile 4, the new model also features an upgraded smartphone stabiliser which has been upgraded with a new phone clamp and built-in extension rod.
The company claims that the OM 5 improves on traditional smartphone stabilisers due to its 3-axis stabilisation technology, a new ShotGuides feature (that provides up to 30 sets of pre-set shooting tutorials and editing functionality) and an upgraded ActiveTrack 4.0 feature that tracks moving subjects.
A hallmark of DJI’s design, the 3-axis stabilisation technology enables users to create content while on the go in walking and sporting settings.
The new ShotGuides feature has been designed for those new to videography and provides up to 30 sets of pre-set shooting tutorials. It can also automatically edit clips into one final, polished video.
The improved ActiveTrack 4.0 feature allows the camera to track subjects up to 3x zoom at 5m/s. DJI claims that the upgraded feature allows the camera to identify and steadily follow the subject, while keeping them centred in frame, even while the subject is moving erratically.
Paul Pan, Senior Product Line Manager at DJI has shared, “For those who rely on their smartphones, the DJI OM 5 is your ultimate compact, technologically advanced gimbal - any time you want to create footage of your most memorable moments.”
Other noteworthy features of the DJI OM 5 include: Gesture Control, DynamicZoom, Timelapse, Motionlapse, Hyperlapse, Panoramas, Spin Shot Gimbal Movement, Story Mode Templates and Glamour Effects. You can visit the DJI website for a detailed explanation of these features.
