Fujifilm Instax announces Pal: Palm size instant camera
Fujifilm has launched the Instax Pal, a tiny, palm-sized 4.9MP camera that takes digital photos, then lets you print them to a bundled Instax Mini Link 2 printer via the new Instax Pal app.
The $149 camera is equipped with a wide angle lens and flash, but aperture and shutter settings are automatic. That said, it supports interval shooting with 3, 6, 11 or 21 continuous images at three-second intervals.
Photos can be captured via the device itself, or via Bluetooth, through the Instax Pal app, which gives a view through the camera's lens.
The app allows for exposures to be adjusted by +/- 2 EV and there are two switchable quality settings, Rich mode (vivid, with more detail) and Natural mode.
The app also gives access to a variety of printing modes, including sepia, cool, vivid and soft, along with controls for brightness, contrast, rotate, crop, text, stickers, emojis and more.
Printing from the app is possible, but unfortunately requires a second Fujifilm app for the printer. Doing so allows users to print Instax Mini pictures (2.13 x 3.4 inches) in about 15 seconds, with a 1.5-minute development time.
Photos can also be sent to friends via the Pal app, or posted to social media. The camera has a built-in lithium-ion battery that can last for approximately 240 frames per charge.
The Instax Pal bundle arrives in October for $149, or $169 for a limited edition Gem Black version. Matching silicone cases are also available for an additional $19.95. Find out more at Instax.
