Fujifilm has used its Sydney X Summit held at Taronga Zoo to announce several new products, including the medium format GFX100SII, the Fujinon GF500mm telephoto lens, the X-T50 mid-tier enthusiast camera, and the Fujinon XF16-50mm lens.

The new GFX100SII can be seen as the slightly lighter (883g vs 1,030g) and less expensive (RRP $8,699 vs $10,500 *current street price) sibling of the recently released GFX100 II.

Stills wise, both cameras feature the newly developed 102MP high-speed sensor called the GFX 102MP CMOS II; the latest high-speed image processing engine called the X-Processor 5; advanced AI focussing abilities; as well as IBIS of purportedly 8-stops.

The biggest advantage of the GFX100II over the GFX S II is the higher spec OLED viewfinder and extra video functionality.

The GFX100SII's lower price makes it more tempting for advanced photographers (or people with bigger budgets) to consider switching from 'full-frame' to medium format to get even greater detail and image quality in their photographs.

The medium format sensor is able to create super-high image quality through its 102MP sensor which is approximately 1.7 times larger than full-frame.

Both GFX100II's shoot 16-bit on single frame mode, 14-bit for continuous burst, and 12-bit with the highest frames per second.

The other medium format announcement is the huge, yet surprisingly lightweight (1,375g)
GF 500MM F5.6 R LM OIS WR telephoto lens (RRP $6,099) which is sure to be a hit with anyone interested in nature photography, or people who want a different look from every other camera + lens combination.

Other announcements included the lightweight and easy to handle Fujifilm X-T50 (RRP $2,599 body only) which interestingly has a dedicated Fujifilm film stock dial on top.

Announced alongside the camera was the compact and light Fujinon XF 16-50mm F2.8-4.8 R LM WR lens ($3,149 in kit with X-T50, or $1,299 alone)

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Fujifilm film simulation, a new Film Simulation webpage has also been launched so viewers can compare all the film simulations.
