Fujifilm X100VIs are already selling for huge sums

We've all heard the stories about the huge demand for Fujifilm's X100V over the last few years, but it seems the release of the X100VI is all but maintaining the same trend, with the camera already on backorder at most Australian retailers following its announcement last month.

If you're not willing to wait, currently, the cameras are changing hands on eBay Australia for around $3,500, a healthy step up on the $2,899 RRP.

What's remarkable though is the limited edition Fujifilm X100VI, (that’s the one engraved with the corporate brand logo from Fujifilm’s founding in 1934 that comes in a special, soft-release box), is already selling for thousands more than its $3,499 RRP.

A look at eBay's sold listings shows a series of the preorders have sold for more than $5,900, and even up to a whopping $8,500. A pretty healthy return considering the sellers don't even have the cameras in their hands yet.

As first reported by Fuji Rumors, an eBay user known as elar-9021 briefly attempted to sell a "confirmed order" for a Fujifilm X100VI Limited Edition camera for a whopping $18,000 USD. The seller claimed to have purchased the camera from the Fujifilm House of Photography in Sydney for a price that was censored out of the receipt.

To qualify for one of these limited edition cameras, keen buyers had to enter a ballot run via Fujifilm direct, with only 1,934 units worldwide.

All this suggests the Fujifilm X100VI is already a prime target for scalpers, but the limited edition is where there's some serious gouging sales happening right now.
