Rode unveils colourful third-gen Wireless Go Mic
Rode has continued its run of new product announcements, with the unveiling of its Wireless Go (Gen 3), the latest iteration of what Rode calls “the world’s most popular wireless microphone.”
Like its predecessors, the wireless mic includes digital (USB-C) and analog (3.5mm TRRS) outputs, meaning it works with a wide variety of devices.
Further, the transmitters can also pair to a range of other Rode Series IV compatible products, such as the RodeCaster Pro II and Duo and the new RodeCaster Video.
Design-wise, an integrated clip design allows the device to attach the mic to belts, collars, clothing, and cold shoe camera mounts. There's also an integrated LCD screen for monitoring battery and audio signal levels.
Transmission is run with 2.4 GHz digital transmission technology alongside 128-bit encryption, and Rode says it promises stable wireless audio recording at ranges up to 260 metres with line of sight.
Battery life is about seven hours per charge, and Rode has also launched a new charging and travel case, the Charge Case+. This protects and charges the mic system and delivers two full recharges.
The receiver has 32GB of onboard storage, good for about 40 hours of audio, and also has similar GainAssist technology as the Rode Micro.
With all that stuff out of the way, there's also colours(!) and lots of them.
Alongside the more commonly seen black and white, there is red, orange, green, purple, pink, blue, cobalt, clay, lilac, stone, rose, and moss.
The Wireless Go (Gen 3) will set you back $469, and the Rode Charge Case+ around $120.
