Sigma announces fastest-ever wide angle lens - 14mm F1.4 Art
Sigma has announced a new Art lens, the 14mm F1.4 DG DN Art, a wide-angle prime designed for full frame mirrorless cameras that becomes the world's widest F1.4 single focal length lens.
The lens is built around 19 elements in 15 groups, including 1 SLD glass element, 3 FLD glass elements, and 4 aspherical lens elements. It weighs 1,170g in L-mount and 1,160g in Sony E-Mount.
Sigma is no doubt expecting the new glass to be popular with astro photographers as it features a lens heater retainer to keep condensation at bay, and it's also dust and water resistant in keeping with Sigma's premium Art range.
In addition, the 14mm F1.4 has a removable Arca-Swiss tripod collar, designed to prevent interference when using the lens heater, a lock switch for manual focus, and a rear filter holder. Along with the rear filter holder, it also has a specially-designed lens cap with sheet filter storage. The lens has a minimum focussing distance of 30cm.
As mentioned, the Sigma 14mm F1.4 DG DN Art will be available in L-mount as well as Sony E-mount, and will retail for $2,600. It goes on sale in August via local distributor CR Kennedy.
