Zeiss hints at a new product coming soon
In great news for Zeiss fans, the company has posted a teaser to its Instagram account, hinting that a new product is incoming.
The news is somewhat unexpected, as there was widespread speculation in 2023 that the company had left the photography industry for good - with its last lens release in 2019.
The post, featuring an image of an owl, promises some "owlsome news" with a note that something is landing soon.
The caption says the image was captured with Zeiss' Otus 85mm F1.4. Otus is also a genus of owls, so it's likely the new product may be an update to Zeiss' decade-old Otus lenses originally available for DSLR mounts.

In 2023, a spokesperson from Zeiss told DPReview that the company had not withdrawn from the industry, but has faced challenges from the pandemic.
"We have to face the facts. In the first months of the pandemic, the global market declined significantly and irreversibly. And companies have to adapt," the company said.
With the annual CP+ event in Japan just two weeks away, confirmation that Zeiss may be back could well be imminent.
