Hi Bevellee, what this photo illustrates rather well is that you don’t need an expensive DSLR to make good macro images. Most compact cameras, like your FinePix F200EXR, have smaller sensors than their DSLR counterparts, and that gives them a deeper depth of focus. And that’s great for macro photography!
I would advise anyone looking to make a hobby of macro and close-up photography to look for a camera with a small sensor (a good compact or even a Four-Thirds format DSLR). Macro photography is one of the few things that full-frame DSLRs don’t do as well as other cameras.
Now, what would I do to improve this image? Not much. If you want to be very fussy, you could clone out that diagonal line on the leaf closest to the camera – or you could leave (pun intended) it alone!
One last point. The next time you shoot something like this, try composing with just a little more black space in the lower right corner; it will help balance the image and increase the dramatic tension.
