Hi Eric,

Choosing the right shutter speed with which to make an exposure can be an important decision when photographing waterfalls. Use too slow a shutter speed and the scene becomes a milking mess, too fast and you freeze the detail and effectively loose the flow of the situation.

Suffice to say, in this example I think you have got it right with your choice of shutter speed.

The one problem that I do have in this photograph though is the cropping, particularly along the top of the photograph. There is so little space left between the far side of the waterfalls and the actual top of the frame that our eyeballs almost want to turn sideways and squeeze into that narrow space to see what's beyond.

In this instance, I would have liked to have seen more of the horizon; even if it was just a few millimetres. In doing this I would have also cropped 5% off the bottom of the picture; that grey water at the bottom of the frame is not really adding much to our enjoyment of the image.

In the example below I have adjusted the cropping and faked the horizon line.

Cheers for now, Anthony
