Hi Chontelle…
I am all in favour of getting in close to a subject and looking for good detail... there are times though when it is still worth maintaining some basic conventions of photography. The basic convention I'm referring to is the one about not chopping people’s heads off!
Now, you were probably thinking to yourself that the horseman was not important… I don’t need to have any emphasis on him and I am all in favour of that. Worth noting though is that you have taken the importance off the rider simply by having him out of focus in the background.
I think if you had just bent your knees a fraction there is a good chance that you could have captured an incredibly similar crop on this horse's head while at the same time managing to keep most of the rider’s face in the picture… and in that instance most people would have been more comfortable with the photo.
As for thr tone of the image I would be empted to select the horse's face and add a little more brightness and contrast. Good effort.
Cheers, Anthony
