Hi Jade…
Thanks for sending in this photo. The tonal palette in this sky is rather amazing, as is the reflection in the water.
If I had any complaints at all it would simply be that I would like to see just a hint more detail in the shadow area of the picture. There are a couple of ways of making this happen. If you made the photo in RAW mode then you can always use one of the adjustment brushes in a program like Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Camera RAW or any similar program to add half a stop of local adjustment to the land area of this picture. It is simple to do and it would hint at the greenery in the foreground.
Another option would be to simply use the Shadow/Highlight adjustment – just be sure not to over do it.
Now, one thing that I am going to complain about is the white text on the lower right of the picture! Why, oh why do people have to put writing on beautiful photos?
Ideally, put your details in the metadata of the photo, or in a separate caption… but please don’t put text on photos!
I ask this in the nicest possible way! Photos should be left to explain themselves.
Cheers for now,
Anthony
