Hi Writabrata,

Many many years ago I spent a brief period of time in the army doing basic training. The army and me didn't get on that well together and if anything, it was probably because I was too creative for them.

What I did discover in the army though was the importance of detail. Every morning we would have to stand at attention in the barracks while the NCOs walked about and checked every corner of our space… and if they found a tiny flaw, be it some socks not folded as they were meant to be, or a spot of dust on top of a cupboard, the rest of the morning was almost guaranteed to be hell.

Such such fanatical attention to detail was hard to take at the time, but thirty years on, and with a stack more life experience behind me, I have discovered that it is this attention to detail that makes all the difference. Most of us remember the big things but it is usually the small details that cause most of the headaches for us.

So, what is the small detail in this image that I am going to make such a big deal about!?

Have a look at the image closely… everything looks good except for… the sky!

Just above the horizon line we can see the light blue making a pixelated transition into a dark blue – and it is that pixilation that is letting down what is an otherwise good and engaging image.

If this were my photo, I would be going back to the original file and reworking that section of sky so that we have a smooth transition from light to dark blue. If you do this, then chances are we are not going to have the reality of this image broken for use by one simple fault!

Hope this is a help!

Cheers, Anthony
