Hi Cathy,
One trick that I have been using more and more lately has been to use my camera on top of a monopod to achieve higher angles on a subject. This trick involves two useful pieces of kit, the first being the monopod the other being a cable release that plugs into your camera to trigger the shutter remotely.
In an instance like this I would tilt the LCD display on my camera downwards so that I can keep an eye on the composition, hold the camera aloft on the extended monopod and then push the shutter release when the image is looking good. Believe it or not, I use this technique rather often in my commercial photography!
In an instance like this… that extra height might help get you past those distracting leaves in the foreground.
Cheers,
Anthony
