This is a rather nice study, with great light. The exposure is good and the black and white conversion is well handled.
If I had to make one suggestion it would be to zoom out a little more (you made this photo at the 230mm setting, I might have gone 180mm). Then, in post-production, I would have been inclined to crop the photo square. This would have given the image a far more centred feel, and without the vertical perspective leading us into the water, we would be given the sense the image is all about the man and his thoughts.
Don’t be scared to explore variations on cropping; remember, it was not that long ago when most people actually made all their photos square, and then made a decision in the darkroom as to whether to crop horizontal or vertical!
