Hi Steven,

Overall I like the effect that you have created with this image. The HDR treatment combined with a softening of the tones in curves and the application of a soft focus blur has worked well for you.

What does not work quite so well for me is the awkward placement of both the sign and also the sunbather on the beach. You could easily crop to sign out the picture in camera by simply recomposing slightly to the left. Then again, I do actually like the colour balance it brings to the photograph. If I were in a similar situation in the future I would be inclined to jog down to the beach and move it more into the frame. You can easily shift it back again if required.

As for the sunbather, this is a bit more of a challenge. I would prefer to see the sunbather more central on the beach or out of the picture altogether; half a sunbather is not quite doing it for me in this instance.

There are days when, if you ask nicely enough, that person might actually shift into the picture for you. As they say, there is no harm in asking!

Keep exploring this toning technique... I like it.

Cheers,

Anthony
