Hi Gareth,
Old machinery in rustic settings are popular subjects for many photographers. So this tends to raise the question Gareth; in making this photograph are you making a record photograph or are you trying to achieve something different to everybody else?
If you're just making a good photograph of this old truck then I think you have achieved your objective.
If you are hoping to make something that is just a little bit different though, then I think you need to be stronger in your approach.
From the capture perspective this can involve looking for strong angles, or even an interesting juxtaposition that would help convey more of the story. Given that the structure is used to move feed about the farm then maybe a hayshed in the background might br relevant. Another option might be to park your current ute next to the truck as a point of difference.
Capture options aside, then there are the post-production options. I have posted two photographs below; one of the simple black-and-white conversion and the other an HDR conversion using Nik Softwares HDR Efex Pro 2.
In short, when making photographs like these you do need to bring something of yourself to each shot.
Hope this is some useful food for thought!
Cheers, Anthony
