Hi Peter,

There are some things in life that are meant to be green… leaves, frogs and teenagers are a few that spring to mind. But bears? Bears should be brown, black or white. With this in mind, the first thing that I want to do when I see this image is use the Hue and Saturation Tool to shift the colour from green to a warm tone. The simplest way to do this is to create a mask around the bear and then to create a Hue and Saturation adjustment layer… in the example below I made the Hue -65, pulled the Saturation back to -70 and bumped up the Brightness to +6.

What was the effect I was trying to achieve here? My thoughts are if you were camped out at night somewhere near the Arctic Circle… this is more likely to be what you would see if a Polar Bear was to creep up to into the glow of your fire. It would probably be your last earthy vision too… but what a beautiful vision it would be.

Now… as for all that blue sky? Crop it… it is just unnecessary.

And as for the text you have added to the picture… I do not think you need it… keep it simple. if people love the image that much they will ask who made it, what you have titled it and where they can buy signed copies.

Cheers,

Image Doctor.
