The fact that these guys are travelling in excess of 100kph doesn't really come across. The lines of that boat are clean and sharp and except for the fuzzy white area behind the boat, you would never know that it is moving.

There is often a conflict between showing the boat at its best - frozen in space - and showing action, which often involves showing blur, whether in the subject itself or the background. If you decide to blur the background and still retain all the boat detail, you need to pan. This involves moving the camera and lens with the boat following its passage across the water - and it does take some practice and control - and using a much slower shutter speed than 1/1000s - say 1/100s. Use the sequence mode to bang off as many versions as possible.

TIP: A fast shutter speed will freeze a subject in motion but ironically will not always depict movement as well as blur can.
