2018 Melbourne instameet: the wrap-up!

More than 110 people turned out for the third Australian Photography and Panasonic Photographer of the Year instameet in Melbourne's St Kilda last Sunday.

Photographers who braved the cold were rewarded with a host of great shooting opportunities. A soon-to-be married bride and groom posed for photos at the end of the pier, a lone ballerina practised her steps on the breakwater, kite surfers sped back and forth (and occasionally skywards), and a couple of two-wheeled rev heads burned rubber at the entrance to the Pier sending plumes of blue smoke billowing across Port Phillip Bay .

Then there was the photogenic St Kilda Pier itself, a man-made leading line stretching out to the iconic and endlessly photogenic St Kilda Pier Kiosk.

With so many subjects on offer, choosing the winner of the photo competition was never going to be easy. A huge congratulations to winner @russelcharters, who has won the Panasonic Lumix LX10, and runner up @hellyhud who has won the 12-month subscription to Australian Photography.
