Dutch photographer Kars Tuinder has been awarded a $2,000 cash prize and the title of Black & White Photo of the Year in the first annual MonoVisions Photography Awards.
Tuinder's winning image was selected from more than 4,000 entries from around the world.
In the series category, British photographer Anup Shah was selected as the winner of the Black & White Series of the Year 2017 and secured a $3000 cash prize.
Established to celebrate black and white photography, MonoVisions is open to photographers of all levels, and all forms of black and white photography created with both traditional and digital methods.
The panel of judges for the 2017 competition consisted of Eve Janprasert, Silvan Fässler, Sara Sandström, Conny Dietzshold, Martin Stavars, Caroline Gentsch, Matilde Tiriticco, Sinar Photography, Peter Martin, Maria Oliva, Michael Itkoff, Ann Kristin Plüss and Simon Schwarzer.
