China-based camera accessory maker Aputure has released a new compact LED light panel for still and video photography applications. The Amaran AL-M9 is about the same width and height as a credit card and uses nine SMD bulbs to deliver a maximum light output of 900 lux. It can be connected to a camera hotshoe or used 'off camera' on a tripod or light stand.
A dimmer allows for nine levels of brightness control while built-in magnetic diffusion filters lets users modify the quality of the lights. It's powered by a built-in, USB-rechargeable, lithium-ion battery which Apurture claims will last up to 1.5 hours at the maximum brightness setting.
The Amaran AL-M9 will be available online for US$45 from 6 August.
