Australian photographer takes out global Mobile Photography Awards
Brisbane iPhone photographer Glenn Homann has taken out the Grand Prize in the global Mobile Photography Awards (MPA) for 2022, with a stunning portfolio showcasing his mastery of different genres of photography.
Founded in 2011, the MPA has a grand prize of $3,000 USD ($4,4486 AUD), and received a record number of entries in this, its 12th edition.
Homann takes the title of 12th Annual MPA Photographer of the Year and the cash prize, with his series that spans portraits, architecture, and street photography. His image Old Mate also took out the portraits category.
"Glenn's work truly captures the essence of what mobile photography is all about - the ability to create stunning images anytime, anywhere, using only a smartphone," said Daniel Berman, the founder of the Mobile Photography Awards.
The Mobile Photography Awards are divided into 12 categories, including Black and White, Landscapes, Street Photography, Portraits, Architecture, and more.
Each category recognises the unique qualities of mobile photography, 'celebrating its accessibility, immediacy, and portability'.
Category winners each receive $250 USD ($373 AUD).
Speaking of his award, Homann, who works as a storeman in a local Brisbane factory, said he was 'blown away'.
"This recognition means a lot to me, and I hope it will inspire others to explore the endless possibilities of mobile photography," he said.
We've shared Homann's complete series of 12 images here, along with a selection of the other category winners as well. All the finalists can be seen at mobilephotoawards.com.
