Canon has announced two new digital IXUS compacts, the IXUS 230 HS and the 1100 HS. Both models use 12.1-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensors and offer Full HD movie recording.
The smaller IXUS 230 HS features an 8x optical zoom (28-224mm equivalent) and is paired with a 3-inch, 420,000-dot LCD. The 1100 HS houses a large 12x zoom (28-336mm) and a 3.2-inch touchscreen.
The new models debut a new stabilisation system which automatically adjusts to match one of six shooting situations: normal photos, macro shooting, shooting while walking, using a tripod, panning and importantly, shooting with a telephoto zoom.
The IXUS 230 HS and IXUS 1100 HS will be available in Australia at the end of September. Pricing will be announced in September.
