Eizo has announced a new lineup of computer monitors, with models aimed at entry-level and pro photographers. There are five new models, divided into three series – CG for graphics professionals, CX for mid-range users and CS for entry-level users.
The CG series is carried over from the current ColorEdge lineup and is targeted at professionals in photography, prepress, video editing, post-production, and other graphics fields. It can reproduce 97% of the Adobe RGB colour space and offers easy maintenance with a built-in ‘self calibration’ sensor that is housed in the front bezel and swings out to calibrate colour and brightness according to a user-determined schedule. It can also calibrate after hours when the computer it is connected to has been turned off. It comes with bundled calibration software and shading hood. The new models are the 27-inch ColorEdge CG276 and 24.1-inch ColorEdge CG246.
The CX Series is targeted at mid-range users including professionals, prosumers and trade schools in photography and design. Like the CG models, it offers coverage of 97% of the Adobe RGB colour space. Calibration software and shading hood are available as options. The first models in this series are the ColorEdge CX270 (27") and ColorEdge CX240 (24.1").
The CS Series is targeted at entry-level users in photography and design. It offers a narrower colour space than the CG and CX models, but can still display most of the sRGB colour space and more than one billion colors simultaneously. The first CS series model is the ColorEdge CS230 (23").
All ColorEdge monitors come with a DVI-I, HDMI, and DisplayPort terminal for connecting to different computers. HDMI offers the additional benefit of direct connection with digital cameras. A USB hub with two upstream and two downstream ports are also included.
The new lineup begins
shipping in October. Pricing has not been announced.
