Fujifilm has released details
of its new M-Mount adapter for the Fujifilm X-Pro 1. The adapter allows any of
the hundreds of lenses built for the Leica M-mount system to be used with the
Fujifilm body.
The adapter features electronic contacts allowing
the camera body to ‘talk’ to the lens. Following a firmware update to the X-Pro
1 in June, users will be able to create up to six lens profiles to correct for
individual lens characteristics including lens distortion, vignetting and
‘colour shading’. Three levels of distortion correction are available to combat
barrel distortion and pincushion distortion with users able to select ‘strong’,
‘medium’ or ‘weak’ correction, or none at all.
One of the advantages of the X-Pro 1’s hybrid
viewfinder is its ability to display framing guides for different lenses. The
Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) and LCD monitor both offer a 100% field of view
while the optical viewfinder (OVF) displays a bright frame corresponding to the
focal length in use.
Australian pricing was not available at press
time however Fujifilm in the US has announced a retail price of US$199.
