Gitzo has released a new line-up of heavy duty tripods designed to supporting high-end camera equipment in wildlife, landscape, travel and sports applications.
The Ocean series feature leg tubes made of 6X carbon fibre and shoulder elements of corrosion-proof aluminium. Specially engineered G-lock collars prevent sand, dust and mud from entering the leg tubes. Any water that does gets into the legs is expelled by the tube sections, which act as air cushions. A safety catch prevents cameras accidentally dropping from the tripod, even when the shoulder lock is inadvertently left open.
The Ocean series is suitable for use in aggressive environments such as salt water, mud and high humidity climates. There are four tripods in the range with prices ranging from $1950 to $2850.
