With a little bit of computer know-how you can chop and change a background to put your pet cat on the moon, or a polar bear in the middle of the Great Sandy Desert. Con Looymans demonstrates more subtly, how you can add a new sky to a landscape or blur an existing background to concentrate attention on a subject.

Image editing programs with Photoshop effects such as tool selection and the use of masks help making changes to a subject and their background a whole lot easier. The more methods you know the better, because what works well with one subject won’t always work well with another.
