When the film Sin City was released back in 2005 it introduced a new kind of visual style. Captured in gritty black-and-white with splashes of bold spot colour, Sin City was an attempt to translate the aesthetic of a graphic novel onto the big screen. With the image in this project I was interested in replicating the ‘Sin City’ look, desaturating the background and boosting the colours of the classic 1965 Ford Mustang GT350. Whether or not you’re interested in creating a look as extreme as this, this tutorial will give you a good grounding in Lightroom’s colour controls and show you how to produce spot-colour images in Lightroom without having to create complex selections or masks.
