Leica bringing Steve McCurry to Australia in August

As part of Leica’s year-long centenary celebrations marking 100 years since the launch of the Leica I – the world’s first mass-produced 35mm camera, the German company has announced plans for a series of photographic exhibitions to be presented throughout the world with each country pairing an established photographer with a new talent.

For Australia, the exhibition is scheduled from August 2025 at the LeicaGalleries in Sydney and Melbourne, and will feature world-renowned documentary photographer Steve McCurry in association with newcomer Jessie Brinkman Evans.

Jessie Brinkman Evans has roots in Australia and Southern California, and has travelled extensively to Greenland in her young career – capturing the uniqueness of life in the Arctic and exploring the interplay of land and culture.

For Australia, the exhibition, which will play a leading role in a year of centenary celebrations, is scheduled from August 2025 at the Leica Galleries in Sydney and Melbourne.

Further details of the exhibition will be announced in mid-2025.
