Leica opens new four-storey retail space in Melbourne
Leica has inaugurated a four-storey, new-format retail space in Melbourne, which the German company says is its largest retail outlet in the world.
The new store is Leica’s third in Australia, and its 29th global store, and has been 'years in the making' according to the company.
The opening of the new store is the first new major camera store to open in the city following the closure of Melbourne's expansive camera store Michaels in 2022.
Leica says its new flagship store offers a variety of settings - the first floor houses a retail store and full café, the second floor features a photographic gallery, the third floor includes a private photo studio and an academy room for workshops, and finally the fourth floor provides a rooftop area with views of the city skyline.
Leica says the store's interiors are influenced by Scandinavian style, and alongside heritage-style art deco windows, a grand double-height entry leads to a mezzanine photographic gallery.
Leica says the gallery will showcase new artists' works quarterly, and is currently displaying the exhibition Colours of Antarctica by Leica Ambassador Stuart Robertson.
As you'd expect, the new store showcases Leica's full range of cameras, lenses, and sport optics.
The store is located at 267 Lt Collins St.
