The results are in for the March 'Weather' photo challenge.

While most people put their cameras away when the skies turn from blue to grey, experienced photographers know that's often the best time to start shooting. Put simply, bad weather equates to great photos! And so it was with this month's photo challenge, which produced an impressively high standard of entries.

This month's guest judge, pro photographer Anthony McKee, had his work cut out choosing a winner from the 25 images that made the shortlist (see below for the full list) but he eventually settled on Brett Canet-Gibson's beautifully composed photo 'rain +'.

"What I love about the image is the layers that it brings to the photograph," commented McKee. "We see the rain on a windscreen in the near foreground and then the branches and leaves. The light on the leaves creates a beautiful study in its own right, but then through a small gap we see a figure walking in the distance beneath an umbrella and we are reminded of the human impact of severe weather events. On the whole I find this a very engaging and deserving winner."

McKee singled out two more images for special mention, 'Tallebudgera Storm' by Michael Page ("I love the inclusion of the foreground and the natural framing that it creates," said McKee) and 'Lightbulb' by Ken Lawson.

As the winner of our monthly competition, Brett Canet-Gibson has won a brilliant Spyder4PRO from Kayell Australia, valued at $240. With a patented 7-colour sensor, the Spyder4PRO automates and simplifies display calibration to deliver consistent and predictable colour.

The theme for our April competition is Music.
