Canon plans to add two new compact cameras to its range, the IXUS 255 HS and IXUS 135. Both models offer built-in WiFi, image stabilisation and HD video capture.
The IXUS 135 is built around a 16-megapixel sensor and a 28-224mm lens (35mm equivalent) while the IXUS 255 combines a smaller 12.1-megapixel sensor with a large, 24-240mm (equivalent), 10x zoom.
Both models feature a new Eco mode, which helps conserve battery life by up to 30 per cent.
The cameras are expected Australia in March. Local pricing is yet to be announced.
