Nikon announces the D850 is coming

Comments Comments

Nikon Australia has announced the development of the long-awaited replacement to its high resolution, full-frame D810 SLR: the D850.

In a slightly unusual move, the company didn't release any actual details about the camera, though a teaser video released at the same time promises an 8K time-lapse function. At this point we have no idea what it will look either.

Nikon do say that it will be a 'formidable tool for creators who will not compromise on exceptional image quality and versatility' and that it will incorporate 'new technologies, features and performance enhancements that are a direct result of feedback from users.'

You can see the full press release below. Watch this space as we'll share more information about the D850 as it becomes available.

AUSTRALIA: Nikon Australia is pleased to make the development announcement of the
next generation in full-frame, high-resolution, high-speed digital SLR cameras: the highly
anticipated Nikon D850.

The Nikon D850 will be a formidable tool for creators who refuse to compromise on
exceptional image quality and versatility, including aspiring and professional

The D850 will be the successor to the D810, which was highly praised by photographers
for offering extremely sharp and clear rendering, and rich tone characteristics. This
powerful new FX-format digital SLR camera will be engineered with a range of new
technologies, features and performance enhancements that are a direct result of
feedback from users, over the years, who demand the very best from their camera
equipment.

The D850 will exceed the expectations of the vast range of photographers
that seek high resolution and high-speed capabilities that only a Nikon of this caliber,
complemented by NIKKOR lenses, can offer.

Further information regarding the release of the Nikon D850 will be announced at a later
date.
