October free monthly photo comp - The winners!

Congratulations to Dave King who has won our October 'Ocean' photo competition with his image Rings of the Ocean, as selected by our guest judge, professional surf photographer Matt Dunbar.

As winner, Dave wins a 12-month print subscription to either Australian Photography or Capture. 

In choosing the image, Matt said,

"Looking at the initial impact and the uniqueness of the subject, Dave's shot Rings of the Ocean is a standout. Underwater Vortices are a particularly hard subject to document, and not many know that these occur under the surface of a breaking wave."

Matt also chose three special mentions:

Over on Facebook, at competition close, Rachael Archer's perfectly titled image Breacher Creature won the People's Choice with more than 300 votes.

As People's Choice winner, Rachael walks away with a 12-month digital subscription to her choice of either Australian Photography or Capture.
