Panasonic has launched the DMC-G3, the newest model in its hybrid, Micro Four Thirds range.

The camera, which is notably smaller and lighter than its predecessors, uses a new 16-megapixel sensor and offers 1920 x 1080 Full HD video recording. ??Scheduled to be available in Australia in July 2011, the new model will be previewed at the upcoming PMA Imaging & Entertainment Expo in Sydney on the 25th and 26th June.

The camera features a touch-screen AF control, which lets photographers focus on the subject by simply touching it on the 3-inch LCD screen. Once locked on the subject the G3 continues to track the subject as it moves.

The DMC-G3 has a 3-inch free-angle Intelligent LCD with 100% field of view, and a 1,440,000-dot equivalent LVF (Live View Finder).

The camera will be available in three colours – black, red and white. Pricing will be announced closer to the release date.
