Panasonic Australia extends local warranty to five years
Panasonic has extended its warranty for Lumix S and G series products out to five years, joining Canon in offering the longest warranty period of any of the major camera manufacturers in Australia.
According to Panasonic, with every eligible purchase made after 1 April 2024, customers will gain an additional three-year bonus warranty atop the standard two-year warranty, extending their coverage to a total of five years.
In 2022, Fujifilm extended its local warranty from one to three years, following a shift by Canon to a five-year warranty period in 2020.
At the time, Canon commissioned an independent study, the Consumer Warranty Expectations Survey 2019, which found Australian adult consumers linked the length of a manufacturer warranty to brand trust, good value, and product quality.
Aaron Waters, LUMIX Product Marketing Manager at Panasonic Australia said its new extended warranty was testament to the relationship that Panasonic and Lumix had created with its customers over many years.
“Our customers not only deserve a high-quality product, but one that delivers value over time. We want the Bonus Extended Warranty to give our customers peace of mind that their product is built to last,” said Waters.
Panasonic's five-year warranty compares to two years for Sony and Nikon imaging products. Leica also offers a two-year product warranty from the date of purchase at an authorised dealership.
To activate Panasonic's extended coverage, customers need to register their product through the Lumix Extended Warranty website within 120 days of purchase at https://www.panasonic.com.au/warranty/.
