Many beginner photographers fall into the trap of putting their cameras away in bad weather. In the world of landscape photography bad weather equals good photos.
More often than not a clear sunny day is the death knell for a landscape photo. When the weather is “bad” there are almost always opportunities for interesting light especially when it’s variable.
For example, on the west coast of Tasmania it rains ten times a day but it’s also sunny ten times a day and in the transitional periods you get very interesting light.
I bumped into a photographer recently in the Kosciuszko Mountains. He was safe and warm in a lodge when he heard the weather forecast for storms and snow. He immediately headed outdoors.
That’s the right attitude.
