Daniel Sponiar’s passion for photography was sparked at the
age of thirteen when he was given an old Nikkormat SLR and began experimenting
with different kinds of film.
Destined for a creative existence, he began working as an
assistant and retoucher for some of Sydney's top editorial, portrait,
commercial and advertising photographers.
In his early years he also travelled Australia and abroad
working as a jazz musician.
Now based in Sydney, Sponiar finds time to pursue his
personal projects in between editorial and commercial assignments for high
profile clients including the Sydney Opera House and the Australian Defence
Force.
He has exhibited at Gallery Red, Grantpirrie Gallery, Australian
Centre for Photography and Sydney’s Gaffa Art Precinct.
A new solo exhibition, 100 Seconds, will run from 25 May to
14 June 2012 at Galleryeight in Millers Point Sydney. The exhibition, which highlights
the beauty of our coastal environment, features images of Sydney’s built and
natural coastline.
