The winners! Free monthly photo comp January 2024

Congratulations to Rick Switzer and his image Beach pond, which has taken out our free monthly photo comp for January. The theme was Reflections.

"As one of the commenters said, this image works by creating a vast sense of space, while also using the small human forms to emphasise this and act as a point of reference," says AP's Mike O'Connor. "It's a beautifully balanced frame that also uses depth really well to further enhance the feeling of being on a vast, open beach - a deserved winner this month."

Rick takes home a 12-month subscription to either AP or Capture mag as his prize for winning the comp this month.

We also selected two special mentions, Jo Howes, Jellyfish, and Frank Oostenbroek, Cotton Pygmy Goose.

Over on Facebook, our People's choice was taken out by Ian Fairbairn, with his image Sunrise at Curl Curl ocean pool taking out the vote with 81 at competition close. Ian wins a digital subscription to AP or Capture.
