National Geographic Live is returning to Australia in October with a series of talks by renowned underwater photographer Thomas Peschak.
Following his lifelong obsession, Thomas Peschak has passed the last decade getting up close with the creatures which have inspired him since childhood: paddling kayaks alongside great white sharks in South Africa, swimming among hundreds of whirling, one-tonne manta rays in the Maldives, and keeping pace with massive whale sharks in the Arabian Sea. Peschak has devoted his life to creating images that inspire people to act, documenting both the beauty of the ocean and humanity’s impact upon it.
Peschak originally trained as a marine biologist, but swapped for the nomadic life of a photojournalist in 2004. He became an environmental photojournalist after realising that he could have a greater conservation impact with images than with statistics. He aims to merge photojournalism and cutting edge science to create powerful media projects that tackle some of the most critical marine conservation issues of our time.
Peschak will share his stunning images and the stories behind them over a series of talks in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth in October.
