Congratulations to Daniel Hopkins who has won our April ‘Seascape’ photo competition with his image 'Cathedral Cove', as judged by our guest judge, landscape photographer Hillary Younger.

Speaking about the shot, Younger said:

"Cathedral Cave takes me on a dramatic journey through the image with exceptional use of transitions to create great depth and three dimensionality.

From the high contrast reflected light on the foreground rock, to the low contrast, misty furthest land mass; from the dark cave to the light source; from large foreground rocks to small distant islands.

These transitions lead me through the image from the immediate foreground to the horizon and the imagined beyond. Superb framing by the cave mouth.

In addition, Daniel has used a shutter speed fast enough to retain beautiful textural detail in the water, communicating the drama of the moment."

Thanks to the amazing team at Haida Filter, Daniel has won an M10 Filter Holder Kit valued at $339.
