Who won our February 'Landscape' photo competition?
Congratulations to Santosh Mitra who has won our February ‘Landscape’ photo competition from a record-breaking 1,500+ entries, with his image 'Australian Landscapes', as judged by our guest judge travel photographer Dan Avila.
Speaking about the shot, Avila said:
The entries into this competition are as amazing as they are varied. After reviewing the images, this shot stuck in my mind many hours later. Technically the composition balance is perfect and I love the rejection of the rule of thirds for the dark foreground.
The centre-placed subject adds to the symmetry, as does the square image shape which is enhanced by the movement from cool tones of sky to the warmth of the landscape bathed in sunlight.
Emotionally, it is beautiful and calming with the subject being dwarfed by the landscape looking as if it is springing forward from the darkness of the foreground into the atmospheric light. To me, it says; humility, resilience and restraint. I love it. Congratulations.
Thanks to the amazing team at BenQ, Santosh has won a BenQ SW240 monitor with an RRP of $699.
