Photo tip of the week: How to sharpen images in Photoshop
Sharpening is one of those tools that can transform your portraiture, and it's also something that's well worth taking the time to learn. In this new video from Aaron Nace of Phlearn, he shows the best sharpening method to target and highlight the details that matter and enhance the detail that's already in your portrait.
There's a couple of points to consider before you dive in. First, sharpening should be the very last step in your post-processing workflow. Make sure to perform all the standard colouring, exposure, and retouching adjustments before you sharpen.
Second, sharpening should be done according to your final image size. For example, if you are exporting at say, 2000px (a good standard size for web), first resize your image and then start the sharpening process. This is because the final image size has a large influence on how effective sharpening will be, and as Nace explains, your image quality will be consistent.
