Video: Australian Ben Baker on photographing the world's most powerful people
Australian photographer Ben Baker has spent the last 15 years focusing his camera lens on people of power, or as he puts it, “people who effectively run the world."
Now in this enlightening new video from photographer and movie maker Henry Thong, Baker shares his journey from humble beginnings as a photographer’s assistant in Adelaide, to photographing some of the most iconic people in the world.
"Through his work with Time Magazine, Fortune, Politico, and The Sunday Times, Ben has photographed media moguls such as Rupert Murdoch, superstar celebrities the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio and Hugh Jackman, visionary innovators like Elon Musk, and political heavyweights including Michael Bloomberg, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama," Thong writes.
The secret to great images is simple, according to Baker. "I approach portraits of people with power with the same level of repect I do as photographing anyone else," he says.
