Video: The 'secret' rule of composition: The middle line
Here's a really interesting video by Light Club that looks at a lesser known compositional technique, using a line down the middle of the frame to anchor your subject, which it calls the 'secret rule of composition.'
Many well-known photographers and artists throughout history have composed portraits by placing their subject's eye down the middle of the frame, or centering their subject horizontally in the middle of the frame.
Although we're often told that framing our subject on the intersecting lines in a rule of thirds composition is pleasing to the eye, Light Club suggest that there's also 'magic in the middle'.
