Video: The secret to powerful portraiture: It's in the eyes

You will probably be familiar with the expression 'The eyes are the window to the soul', but have you ever really considered just how important the expression is when it comes to portraiture? 

Coming to us from The Light Club, this two and a half minute video takes a closer look at this critical aspect of portrait photography, with a special focus on catchlights. 

Interestingly it's not just photography where a catchlight can help transform an image into something special, but art as well. Leonardo da Vinci was a well-known proponent of using catchlights, realising that 'if you capture the eyes, you capture the soul.'
